Pete Harris : guitar
Pete is well known across the UK for his bluesy, soulful guitar playing reminiscent of such greats as George Benson, Kenny Burrell and Pat Metheny. He currently plays (and occasionally sings) with his own jazz quartet (Ph4), and has also appeared as a solo special guest with Shalamar, Shakatak, the Fat Chops Big Band, and Gospel Central. Pete has worked as a professional session guitarist for over 20 years. His regular gigs are currently with 90’s soul artist Kenny Thomas, Songs of Praise presenter Aled Jones, and the The Red Lemons. Over that time he has also played guitar for many other artists such as Sister Sledge, PP Arnold, The Bee Gees, Ronan Keating, Mari Wilson, Gareth Gates, Donny Osmond, Ben Okafor and Cerys Matthews. He also toured with theatre shows such as What a Feeling, Oh What a Night, and the Rat Pack.
Pete taught jazz guitar at the University of Wolverhampton and North Warwickshire college for many years. Pete’s jazz compositions can be heard on alto sax player Alvin Davis’s debut albums “Let It Blow” and “Let the Vibes Decide”. He has also recorded with his own acoustic duo - MAP – and released an album “ The View from Here” and 2 E.P.’s “Flying Without Wings” and “ Four Stories”. He appearances on TV and radio include Jimmy Kimmel (USA) Jonathon Ross, Loose Ends, and Smooth FM.
